In December 2019 a couple were prosecuted for a case involving owning a dog dangerously out of control which caused injury under the Dangerous Dogs Act s3 (1) where a four-year-old boy was injured.

Guilty pleas were entered by both owners and they were given suspended sentences of 20 months suspended for a year and a dog destruction order was imposed.  The dog had bitten off the tip of the four-year old's finger whilst he lay colouring with this incident occurring during a family gathering. The dog was known to have bitten another young child whilst in the care of previous owners and also two other dogs.
