Danny Carter of Gepp & Sons Solicitors delivered another successful talk at Mencap, this time on providing for the future.
The talk took place at Colchester’s First Site Visual Arts Centre to provide advice to a group of approximately 50 attendees and was predominantly aimed at those with family members who had learning disabilities.
A member of the Mencap staff provided an introduction and then handed over to Danny who spoke about various issues faced by relatives in this situation. Topics included advice on how legacies can impact on a disabled person’s ability to claim benefits, how the wishes for the continuing care of a disabled relative can be documented and the tax benefits of setting up trusts. Many questions were posed and answered for the benefit of the group and the evening concluded with Danny providing some one-to-one advice.
