Dog attack

28 May 2013

Two men have been arrested after 10 people were attacked by two dogs in an East Sussex street, leaving them needing hospital treatment. Three of the victims received serious injuries with bites and scratches to their bodies.

When police arrived at the scene, one of the dogs had already been contained, the second dog had to be forcibly restrained by a dog unit with the aid of police officers. So serious were the attacks, Firearms officers were deployed, but eventually weren’t required.

Sussex Police said the arrested men were being questioned on suspicion of allowing dogs to be dangerously out of control. The dogs were also taken into police custody following the attack.

Insp Sarah Godley said: "This was an incredibly distressing incident for everyone involved and quick work from members of the public and officers at the scene meant that the incident was quickly brought under control.
