Food & Farming Day – what a success…

9 June 2017

Thousands of primary school children from across the county were out in full force at yesterday’s Essex Food and Farming day held at Writtle College. The event, now in it’s 10th year, is organised by the Essex Agricultural Society with whom Gepp & Sons have had a strong relationship for many years.

The event provides children with the opportunity to engage and interact with local farmers and food producers in a fun and educational way, meeting animals close up, sampling local veggies and having a go at milling grain first hand! The exhibitors had travelled from all over Essex to demonstrate what they do and how they do it while also teaching the children about the environment and sustainability.

Gepp and Sons are proud to lend their support to the Essex Agricultural Society each year at this fascinating event. This year, staff from Gepp and Sons acted as stewards for the pupils of the Federation of Farnham and Rickling Primary Schools, Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School, Northwick Park Primary School and Noak Bridge Primary School, a bright and very well behaved bunch and a real testament to their parents and teachers! Although we’re not sure their parents appreciated us sending the children home full of TipTree strawberry jam, needless to say the children were all very excited at the end of the day.
