Friends of Essex Churches Trust hosts the first annual ‘Gepp Lecture’

James Bettley Chairman of the Friends of Essex Churches Trust opened proceedings at this years AGM held at All Saints Church, Writtle. Gepp & Sons Solicitors sponsored this year’s meeting and were proud to attend the first ‘Gepp Lecture’ in memory of Gepp & Sons late Senior Partner, Tom Gepp.

After the formalities of the AGM came to a close the congregation were entertained by journalist and columnist Dr Simon Heffer who delivered the Gepps Lecture, a detailed personal view on “Why we need churches”. Dr Heffer spoke passionately not just on the history of these ancient places of worship but also on the social impact these building have had on him, his family and the County of Essex.

Mr Gepp was a committed supporter of the Trust, dedicating his time to the preservation of the glorious churches of Essex. Representing Gepp & Sons Solicitors were partners Steven Payne, Neil Ashford and Edward Worthy. Speaking after the event Edward Worthy commented, “It is a pleasure to continue our firms support of this trust, ensuring these building survive for the enjoyment of many generations to come”
