Gepp & Sons are pleased to welcome new Partner, Darren Goodey, to the firm. Darren, who joins the firm in September, previously worked for fifteen years with a large private sector organisation in London as their in-house legal advisor, ultimately becoming their group legal director. He initially trained as a barrister and was called to the bar of The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. During his training, he was awarded the Lord Haldane Scholarship, the Hardwicke Scholarship, and the Sir Thomas More bursary for his academic and vocational achievements. Darren later became a chartered legal executive and will practise with Gepp & Sons in this capacity.
Darren has particular experience of complex contracts for large outsourcing projects and, by way of his experiences as a director and in-house lawyer, has developed a practical approach to areas of commercial practise. Darren has wider experience in hearings before the employment tribunal; tax tribunal; county and high courts; and matters before a judge-in-chambers.
Darren’s memberships include The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, the London Court of International Arbitration, the Denning Society and the Employment Law Bar Association. Darren became a Freeman of the City of London in 2008 and in 2013 he received a formal grant of armorial bearings from the Earl Marshal and the College of Arms.
Outside of the practise, Darren is a fixed-wing pilot and enjoys outdoor and country pursuits including sporting clay shooting, walking in the Scottish Highlands, and rowing. Darren is also a trustee and member of the executive committee of the charity Essex Boys and Girls Clubs with senior partner Jonathan Douglas-Hughes, fellow partner David Springett, and Gepp & Sons’ finance manager, Graham Middleton.
