A local solicitor has responded to a recent report by the Forum of Private Business (FPB) which revealed that small UK companies spend an average of 37 hours-a-month dealing with red tape. According to the report, this amounts to a total annual cost of close to £12 billion. "The most costly aspects appear to be compliance with employment law, at £2.4 billion, and health and safety administration, at £2.1 billion," says Edward Worthy of Gepp & Sons in Chelmsford. "Clearly, this is an enormous burden that must be distracting businesses from other essential areas of their work that could be enormously valuable, particularly in difficult economic times." While the FSB is calling on the newly created Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to reduce the administrative workload, Edward Worthy is offering his firm's support as a way of easing this burden. "We have experts in both employment and in health and safety law, who can advise you on the best and easiest ways of complying with your responsibilities," he continues. "We can also help you set up systems that streamline your ability to keep up with the demands of government, ensuring that you stay within the law while focusing on other areas that matter to your business." "Just call us on 01245 228124 to find out how we can help you cut back on red tape." - ends - Notes to Editors: • For additional information or comment please contact: Edward Worthy of Gepp & Sons.
