Pennies For Poppies

31 October 2019

Gepp Solicitors has been associated with the Armed Forces in one form or another for most of its history.

Partners of the firm were founder members of the local Yeomanry during the Napoleonic Wars and members of the firm served their country in both World Wars.  More recently the firm has become the region's pre-eminent firm of Military Law specialists.  We signed the Armed Forces Covenant in January of this year and we will be awarded the MoD's Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award next month in recognition for the work that we have done in supporting the Armed Forces Community (in particular the veteran community).

When we signed the Armed Forces Covenant we made a pledge to raise money for the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal.  In addition to making sure that there is a box of poppies in our office so that our staff and clients can buy a poppy, our CEO, (retired Lieutenant Colonel) Mike Cubbin has once again volunteered to sell poppies in Chelmsford.

On Monday he was up with the lark to catch commuters as they made their way to London and since then he has taken post during his lunch break selling poppies in Chelmsford High Street.

This year he is taking part in a trial by the Royal British legion to see whether poppy buyers would like to pay for their poppies by text or by Apple Pay and Google Pay.

If you want to buy a poppy he can be found in the High Street between the entrances to Bond Street and High Chelmer from 1 –  2 PM on most weekdays, until Friday 8th November 2019.
