On Sunday, 18th March 2018 it was reported that police officers were called to a road traffic accident at lower Richmond Road in Mortlake at approximately 4pm. The TV celebrity Mr Ant McPartlin who hosts many popular television shows on ITV was said to have been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released under investigation after being interviewed.
According to reports in the media police added that a number of vehicles were involved and people were treated for minor injuries including a child who was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
The implications of a conviction for driving with excess alcohol particularly if it involves aggravating features such as being involved in an accident or where there are a large number of pedestrians or high level of traffic in the vicinity can be very serious indeed. Where there is clear evidence of an unacceptable standard of driving particularly in poor road and weather conditions the situation becomes potentially even more serious.
