"Hey all you cool cats and kittens"

Carol Baskin from Big Cat Rescue who appears on the popular Netflix Series 'Tiger King' has been accused of forging her missing husband's Will, according to the Sheriff investigating his disappearance.

Carol inherited her husband's fortune after he went missing on 18 August 1997 and was declared dead in 2002.

There was a breakdown in their marriage before his disappearance and there is evidence to support the claim that the Will was forged.

What we can take from this case is how important it is to draw a Will up with a professional, such as a Solicitor, so that your Will is drawn up correctly and reflects your wishes.  We will always meet with you either in person or via video conferencing to take your instructions and throughout the process ensure that we are satisfied that you are not being unduly influenced or pressured to draw up your Will in a way that you do not want.

We will also ask you to provide identification documents to ensure we are taking instructions from the correct person and we will draw up detailed attendance notes which can support the people you want to benefit if your Will is ever contested.

For your Will to be valid it is necessary to have two witnesses who watch you sign it and we are happy to provide these, with social distancing measures being adhered to under the current circumstances.  As part of this process, we will take you through your Will before you sign to ensure you fully understand the contents and are happy with them.  The witnesses will then be able to provide evidence in the event your Will is challenged after your death. Your original Will can also be stored with us free of charge to prevent it from getting lost or damaged.

We offer different Will structures to cover all personal circumstances and the Solicitors here at Gepps can advise on the best structure for you based on your wishes.
