Having studied Law at the University of Hertfordshire and the College of Law in London, Gemma completed her training contract in Bishop Stortford and London and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2009.   Joining Gepp Solicitors in 2010, Gemma became a Duty Solicitor, often representing clients across Essex at various Police Stations prior and during interview under Police Caution.

Gemma is also a Higher Courts Advocate and thus appears in the Crown Court.   In 2018 she became an Associate at Gepp Solicitors.

Specialisms

Whilst Gemma represents clients on a wide variety of criminal offences, she is recognised for her experience in dealing with more serious matters such as Robbery, Rape and Murder.  Many of her cases are of a very sensitive nature such as sexual offences and abuse.  Gemma regularly acts for individuals accused of sexual offences, this has included representing medical practitioners accused of sexual assaults arising out of their professional duties, as well as cybercrime and indecent images of children.

Gemma, also has connections with the Licensing Trade and has been involved in the hospitality industry throughout her working career.   Her family have a number of successful licensed premises in the local area and therefore she has maintained a keen interest in licensing and has used her personal knowledge of the industry to provide tailored advice throughout her legal career. This has included obtaining licenses for restaurants in London, variation of premises licences and transfers of licences, as well as successfully defending clients with the Council when local residents have raised objections to proposed changes.

Approach

Often called upon to deal with very sensitive matters, Gemma remains professional and focused with her approach to getting the job done.  She prides herself on her attention to detail in the preparation of cases which has been praised by Counsel and clients alike.  Gemma has great empathy for her clients who find themselves in the midst of the criminal justice system and takes time and care to explain the law and procedure throughout the case.
